What can you expect out of my yoga teaching?
My style of yoga is rooted in the spiritual fulfillment that yoga brings - yoga is more than a physical practice for me. It is a lifestyle. I bring this into each of my classes through mantra, meditation, pranayama and partner massage. While living in the western world, I have found that I need to create a safe place within my own head space in order to move throughout the day. My goal while teaching yoga is to align the breath and body, while expanding any constrictions in the mind.
I like to begin the class by setting an intention — I will read an excerpt from a favorite poem, a quote or a bit of ancient inspirational wisdom. From there, we will move through a creative vinyasa sequence based upon that theme and your body’s unique individual needs. We may be moving through a fast paced flow or we may be opening the body slowly with deep relaxation. It all depends on how you arrive & what you desire to feel.
Will I sweat?
Quite possibly, but I don’t typically teach the sweatiest classes out there. You will move through an intentional, full body exercise to get you into all of the crevices of your body. I love to tailor my classes to individuals’ needs so if a full sweat is what the doctor ordered, we will go there.
Can I hire you for an event?
Absolutely! I love teaching yoga at all kinds of events — corporate events, bachelorette weekends, birthday parties, weddings, you name it. I really love teaching at events because I have found that it allows for individuals of all mindsets to drop into their bodies and become present to the full day of experiences. I can make it playful and light or we can move through an emotionally opening experience. It’s all up to you!
Are you certified?
Yes! I completed my first 200 hr. yoga teacher training in Hatha & Ashtanga based practices in the south of India through Suddha Anand Yogshala in September 2016. My second 200 hr. yoga teacher training was rooted in a Buddhist based study of vinyasa techniques and thai yoga massage completed in March 2019 at Dharma Yoga in Austin, Texas. I also attend as many trainings & workshops as possible because I love this stuff!
It’s my first time doing yoga and I am nervous — where do I begin?!
No worries at all my dear! You are in such safe hands.. Beginning a yoga practice can seem quite intimidating as it’s grown to be all around us now. It may seem like everyone else has been doing it forever, but in reality - everybody had their first lesson sometime, somewhere. The beginning is sometimes the best place to be. I love teaching first time yogis & yoginis for the fact that it gives us a clean start. We can work through the basics, the fundamentals, the techniques, the alignment and the WHY behind yoga. I am more than happy to be a guiding hand as you step into your yoga journey if my style resonates with you.
Do you have to be super spiritual with your teachings? I’m not totally into that…
That’s totally fine! I am here to give you the experience that you need. I will always remain authentic to myself and my core but I do not need to dive into the depths if that is not what is needed in the moment. It brings me joy to just get people in their bodies and moving. The benefits of a physical practice are extraordinary without any extra insights included.
Where will we practice?
I enjoy teaching at zilker park or outside of Barton Springs or finding a cozy, quiet place in your back yard. I love to practice yoga in nature, but in the Austin summers it can surely get a bit hot. I host lessons out of my home on the riverfront in central / southeast Austin. I have a large living space designed for our yoga lessons. Otherwise, I am happy to come to you! I teach in corporate space, co-working offices, homes, and just about anywhere. We don’t need too much space at all.
Can I schedule a regular practice with you?
Yes! It may be my favorite way to work. By developing a regular practice with one yoga teacher, you have the ability to really move through some profound growth. I can get to know your practice, your strengths and weaknesses, and you can get to know my style. We can learn and grow together. I have a background in energy work, massage, and one-on-one coaching if we want this to be more integrative than just the physical asana. Let’s talk!
Do you offer any services other than yoga?
I have been studying a unique form of energy work that allows me to clear energetic blockages out of your space through deprogramming. It’s not painful, it’s actually incredibly healing. You may notice massive shifts in your life after a deprogramming session. We can work on a specific topic and clear any old patterns, past pains, and work through various levels of trauma. It’s a safe space. I can tell you what I find or we can move through the work silently.
I have been studying psychic work for over a year and also offer intuitive psychic readings. I will look at how you are showing up as a soul, how you are communicating, where you are protecting yourself, and take a look at past wounds. I will dive into past lives and look at next steps for you. It’s quite an all encompassing experience - super insightful and rather mind blowing. Trust me, I didn’t totally believe in all of this stuff at one point.
Another offering that I can bring to the table is a human design reading. Human Design has radically changed my life. By looking at your Human Design birth chart, I can tell you how you are meant to operate according to your very own unique design. It combines many different ancient systems to tell us how we impact the world, how the world impacts us, how to best make decisions, how to eat according to our design and so very much more.
Each of these offerings are extremely powerful and I am only beginning to invite the world to experience them. Although I have been studying and practicing for over a year in each of these modalities, I have not yet released them as a main focus. They have been life altering in the most profound ways for me. If any of these studies interest you, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to start getting into more of a flow with these works, but am starting out slowly.
